Dwayne Anderson, 23, couldn't hide from members of the Fairfax County Police Department, who caught their sticky-fingered suspect attempting to conceal himself inside a vehicle with stolen property, officials say.

The Lorton resident was caught at around 4 a.m. on Monday morning breaking into cars near the intersection of Bellwether Court and Shepherd Hills Drive, after officers found a vehicle with a broken window.

A canvas of the area led them to Anderson, who was hiding in a different car with stolen property in his possession. It was later determined that multiple vehicles had been broken into in the area.

Detectives later discovered that Anderson had been responsible for several previous car break-ins, as well as a stolen vehicle that was taken in West Springfield.

Anderson was arrested without incident and charged with:

  • Four counts of vehicle trespassing;
  • Four counts of destruction of property;
  • Grand larceny;
  • Petit larceny;
  • False identification to police;

He was also served on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court on felony offenses.

Anderson is being held with no bond and investigators noted that additional charges are pending as the investigation continues.
